Portugal’s team had a nearly flawless campaign in the U21 championship. They have lost only one of their 14 games since the qualifying stage and the group phase. The game in question was against the Netherlands.
This is the third time the Portuguese team reaches the final of the Euro U21 category. In the previous two finals, they were runners-up. They lost to Sweden 4-3 on penalties in 2015, after a 0-0 draw, and fell to Italy 1-0 in 1994.
Germany was runner-up in the last edition of the tournament, in 2019, after winning the previous one, in 2017, precisely in a final against Spain. They have also won the tournament in 2009. Now they are aiming to conquer their third trophy.
