Italy were seconds away to become the champions until Sylvain Wiltord scored a late goal in injury time to give his team a chance to turn things around in the extra time. When the clock displayed 103rd minute, David Trezeguet scored the unforgettable golden goal that marked France’s second title in this tournament.

Denmark 2 – 0 Germany (EURO 1992)

We have seen underdogs won it all on many occasions but Denmark’s title in EURO 1992 had no precedents. The reason why their championship is unique is that Denmark weren’t even qualified for this tournament. They got the ticket after Yugoslavia wasn’t allowed to participate because of the civil war taking place in the country at that time. The final game of the EURO 1992 seemed to be a lopsided one as Germany were in incredible form. Additionally, they had some of the best football players of the time on their roster, not to mention that they won the 1990 World Cup. However, Denmark pulled out the biggest surprise in European Championship history by defeating the world champions with two goals to nil. It is still one of the greatest football stories of all time.

Spain 4 – 0 Italy (EURO 2012)

Do you remember the times when Spain rampaged the world’s greatest teams just for fun? It was not long ago. Between 2008 and 2012, they won two European Championships and one World Cup. One of their victims was Italy in EURO 2012. Having won back-to-back major titles, Spain were the clear favorites to win the title but no one was expecting to see Italy getting demolished. The golden generation of Spain’s national football team led by Iniesta and Xavi defeated Italy 4-0 and completed the three-peat. No team has accomplished what Spain did in those 4 years.
