History at UEFA Euro

Having qualified for 6 out of 15 European Championship, Belgium is one of the most accomplished national football teams in Europe. Their best result at this tournament came in Euro 1980 in Italy. They finished this tournament as runners-up losing the title to West Germany. Their second-best European Championship result was in Euro 1972. Once again, West Germany denied Belgium’s hopes to win the title; but this time it was in the semi-finals. Having been eliminated in the semi-finals, Belgium faced Hungary to decide the third-best team of the tournament. After a 2-1 victory, Belgian national team managed to finish third. Last but not least, they have had the honor of hosting the tournament twice (Euro 1972 and Euro 2000).
