History at UEFA Euro

Back in 1998, when Scotland participated in the France World Cup, the team was expected to improve and put its name in more and more tournaments. Sadly, that didn’t happen and it ended as a lucky shot. Before that, Scotland participated in the 1992 and 1996 Euro, backing up the first statement mentioned. After more than 20 years, they are ready to take the next step thanks to Steven Clark, their new coach. Clark started to manage the team in 2019 and so far it has been excellent, creating a new atmosphere in the national team and fixing the defensive mistakes from the past. Scotland will arrive to the next Euro 2021 with a bunch of consecutive victories and ready to rise from the ashes.

Ones to watch

David Marshall:

He is probably the current hero in his country at this moment. Marshall stopped two penalties in the last two matches of the Euro qualifying (semifinal and final), giving the team the last two victories they needed to come back to the Euro after 24 years. The goalkeeper has also a long career in teams such as Celtic, Norwich City, Wigan Athletic, and Derby County, among others.

Andrew Robertson:

He started as a substitute in the Scottish national team back in 2014, and nowadays he has become the leader and captain of the team thanks to his great skills as defensive player. Robertson is also the current winner of the Champions League and the Premier League with Liverpool. Jürgen Klopp gave him the opportunity to play in 2017, and since then, the left back position has been only for him.

Scott McTominay:

He was born in England, but thanks to its father’s nationality, he managed to join the Scottish national team. McTominay has been playing for Manchester United since he was 5 years old and nowadays he is part of the main team as central midfielder. For Scotland, he plays as central defender although he can also switch to the right wing.
