History at UEFA Euro

The Czech Republic is one of the teams with a good history in the Euro. They have been here from the beginning and they also reached two finals (1976 and 1996) winning only the first one of them. However, the team was completely renewed since their last Euro, including a new coach, Jaroslav Silhavy, who joined the team in 2018. Jaroslav is an excellent addition as he has coached Czech teams for more than 20 years. Now, his experience allowed him to create a whole new team and the results are promising. After their last final played, the Czech national team couldn’t move from the group stage in 3 of the 5 tournaments held, so this will by their primary objective for this edition.

Ones to watch

Pavel Kaderabek:

He has a lot of versatility and he can play in different positions (right back, wing back, and midfiled). For this reason, his rivals are always in danger when Pavel is facing them from his side of the field. This guy has a lot of speed and dribble and for those reasons he was signed by the Bundesliga’s team 1899 Hoffenheim in 2015. He is also a great reference for the Czech national team since 2014 with 43 caps so far.

Tomáš Souček:

Close to Pavel, Souček plays as defensive midfielder, usually on the right side as well. He signed for Slavia Prague since 2014 but was sent to different teams as loan, including the Premier League team West Ham United. After 6 months playing with the English team in 2020, they signed him for 4 years thanks to its good performance in this league.

Tomáš Vaclík:

At 32 years old, Vaclík has earned his position as goalkeeper of the Czech Republic national football team since 2012. During his career he played for different Czech teams, FC Basel from Switzerland, and now he has been in the Spanish league with Sevilla FC since 2018. In 2019, he also won the Czech Republic’s Golden Ball.
