History at UEFA Euro

Sweden was one of the qualifying teams in group F of the UEFA Euro 2020. Sweden and Spain qualified immediately for the finals and Sweden was the second-best team in group F with 6 wins, 3 draws, and only 1 defeat with a total of 21 points. Their best result in this championship so far was their qualifications to the semi-finals of Euro 1992. As the hosting team, they finished at the 4th position. Having lost 2 -3 against Germany in the semi-finals, it was their first time ever qualifying for this championship.

For the past editions, they haven’t been doing so well, especially the last edition, where they ended in the 20th position. Following this bad performance, Janne Andersson, their new coach took over. He is the reason for Sweden’s renaissance as he brought them as far as the quarter-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, losing to England. They seem to have a brighter future ahead with Andersson as their head coach.

After his first-team debut in AIK, where he played against Djurgarden and scored 2 goals, Isak was said to have enormous potentials. Some say he could become the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Isak’s talent is impossible to ignore and he would be a great plus for this team.

Dejan Kulusevski:

At the age of 20, Kulusevski has captured the attention of famous clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, and Inter Milan. However, Juventus succeeded in getting his signature. He plays as a midfielder and a right-winger and he is compared to Mohamed Salah. This shows the potential he has and that he can offer his team and this includes speed, stamina, acceleration, and the ability to provide assists and switch the play. He is undoubtedly the player Isak needs on his side due to his passing ability and clear vision.

Robin Olsen:

Olsen is a Swedish goalkeeper who was born In Denmark but grew up in Sweden. He has played for many clubs, notably Malmö FF, PAOK, københavn, Roma, Cagliari, and has recently been transferred to Everton. Playing for the Swedish national team, Olsen has made some impressive saves in the 2018 World Cup tournament. Keeping 2 clean sheets during the group stages and another in the 16th round against Switzerland, we expect him to perform his magic here.
