History at UEFA Euro

The first participation of the Netherlands in the UEFA European Championship was back in 1976; since then, they gather 9 participations out of 15 events in total. They come to Euro 2020 with one championship on their case, achieved in 1988 in Germany, and having hosted the tournament once alongside Belgium in Euro 2000. The Netherlands national team has also finished third in 4 occasions (1976 – their first ever participation, 1992, 2000, and 2004), being these ones their second-best results. The national team is considered one of the best in the world and they are widely known as The Dutch Eleven or the Oranje due to the colour of its jersey.

Frenkie De Jong:

Mid-fielder aged 23, Frankie de Jong is a young promise in Netherlands national team. He plays now in the Spanish Barcelona and used to play for Dutch Ajax where he has shown his great defensive skills and versatility to create play opportunities. He debuted with the Netherlands on September 2018 in a friendly match; since then, he has appeared in the national team a total of 19 times and has managed to score once.

Virgil van Dijk:

Van Dijk is the centre-back player and captain for the national team (since 2018), who first debuted back in 2015 with the Netherlands. So far, he is a great referring in the defensive end with an impressive aerial ability, not only with his nation team but also with Liverpool – club where he plays at the moment. Virgil has a total of 38 appearances and 4 goals scored.

Memphis Depay:

Due to the lack of a referring 9 in the team, Memphis Depay has been loaded with the responsibility of moving the team forward as fake striker. The 26-year-old forward plays at Lyon at the moment and has appeared with the national team a total of 56 times and scored 19 goals since his debut in 2013.
