History at UEFA Euro

Switzerland participated in four editions of the UEFA European Championship so far and, in 2008, they hosted the championship together with Austria. The team has failed to stand out in this competition. Of those four participations, they managed to reach the group stage in three, and, in 2016, they overcame this streak and reached the round of 8th.

In this new edition of the Championship, they have the opportunity to show what they are made of and move one step beyond the 8th finals. Although the first matches of the qualifiers for Euro 2021 were not the best, they managed to take a step forward, reorganize, and finally qualify with good goal statistics. This puts Switzerland side by side with Italy as one of the best teams in this group.

Cédric Itten:

This 23-year-old striker who plays for the Rangers is a breath of fresh air for the team and his record confirms his potential. In the two appearances he had in the Euro qualifiers, he accumulated 3 goals scored, also he scored in the first 6 minutes in this international debut. Regarding his record in other competitions, Itten played 34 matches in the 2019-2020 Super League: he scored 19 goals and provided 6 assists. The numbers speak for themselves and the team hopes that he will continue to find the goal so easily.

Breel Embolo:

Embolo is another of the youngest players of the national team, who plays as a forward for Mönchengladbach. Although he comes from a series of injuries, he is a fast and versatile player. And in the last UEFA Euro qualifying, he played 11 games, scored 2 goals, and had 6 assists.
